At BASIN, we have been heads down building. There are so many updates I could share, from us becoming a TNFD Forum Member to our RealValue of Natural Capital framework, to Dispatches, and so much more. But today, I'm thrilled to share with you a key milestone of the BASIN PROTOCOL.
After a year of sorting out the tech, .basin’s are ready to be released and, in fact, if you are reading this, ready for you to claim!
What is a .basin?
For a moment, consider a basin in nature – a vital component of our ecosystems that catch, store, and purify water. Similarly, a .basin is a reservoir of Value – not just financial but ecological and environmental assets as well. .basins are where we store, nurture, and show off what we value most, ensuring our legacies and the health of ecosystems and biodiversity.
Is a .basin a domain, an email address, a token, membership, or all of these? It's a unique blend! In the BASIN PROTOCOL, each .basin represents a PLACE, PURPOSE, or PEOPLE – each is a perpetual purpose trust for the individual .basin.

What do they do?
Managed individually or collectively, .basins serve as vessels for growing assets, both financial and ecological, for and on behalf of the .basin. Central to funding vital climate and nature projects, they are empowered by BASIN STREAMS - the financial and value flows incentivized through the PROTOCOL.
How do I get one?
We have had requests for well over 1,000 .basins. As of today, we've minted 632, with more en route. To claim yours, visit the .basin page on OpenSea and use the search box halfway down the page.
If yours is listed, place a nominal yet meaningful bid using the "Make Offer" button. This process supports our broader mission of ecosystem conservation and helps with credibility on OpenSea. Bids can be made in ETH, USDC, or DAI, or funded via card. We will accept the bid and your .basin will be instantly sent to you.
For unlisted .basins, name changes, if you are a SAFT investor, or if you're wallet-averse, simply reply here or DM me.

So what can I do with my .basin? Only members of the BASIN PROTOCOL know. How do you become a member? With your .basin, of course! It is your certificate of membership.

A PLACE that you hold dear and is very important to you. Send the lat/long and/or place name.
and
A PURPOSE that is important to you. In the BASIN PROTOCOL, purposes are species, ecosystems, ecosystem services, causes, or motivations. It’s the why of all this.
Once we get this from you, we will respond with some goodies, and will show you how your .basin holds assets.
